It is a region rich in history and natural beauty. Carolina Beach is easily accessible and has the highest fixed span bridge crossing the Intracoastal Waterway to avoid any interruption of vehicle and boat traffic.

Fishing waters off Carolina and Kure Beaches are listed as the best along the coast and include surf fishing, fresh water fishing in the Cape Fear River, fishing from piers and trolling in the Gulf Stream on one of the many deep-sea charter boats. Sunbathing, swimming and surfing, along with moonlight boat cruises are favorite activities on Pleasure Island.

The boardwalk at Carolina Beach, with its rides, arcades, dancing spots, and gift shops provides entertainment for all. For children, there is an amusement park and water slides as well as public playgrounds and parks. Golfers can play a different course each day of the week as area courses are from five to fifty minutes off the island.

The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher is one of three state aquariums along the coast and is designed to promote an awareness, understanding and appreciation of North Carolina's resources.

Carolina Beach State Park offers modern campsites, boat launches, a marina, picnic grounds and nature trails. No visit is complete without touring the Fort Fisher Museum, the physical remains of the early Civil War fort.

Being just 30 miles from the Gulf Stream, Pleasure Island is fortunate to have mild weather year round, yet enjoy four distinct seasons. The island stretches 7 1/2 miles from Carolina Beach to Fort Fisher.
